The original name was “Cave Game”. Notch named it that.

Then, someone suggested it be renamed Minecraft: Order of the Stone. Notch accepted that, and rename the game to that.

A bit later, Notch shortened it to “Minecraft”, and that’s the current name.

(I think that’s how)
