Hey there, I'm 11, and I haven't got my period yet. What should I expect, and how do I tell my mom. And should I tell my dad? Are pads or tampons better? What if I get it on a babysitting job? Who should I call? (Sorry for all of the questions, I'm new here.)

Hey! Fellow girl here!

1. You should expect some light flows, and heavy flows. Always different.

2. Telling your mom can be so hard to do. Say, "Mom, can you come in the bathroom?" Tell her you got it and she'll give you some pads or tampons or whatever you are gonna use. (Also, telling your dad would be really really hard, so just try your mom. If your mom isn't home, tell your dad. You will be fine.

 3. It's all up to you. Using pads would be easier since all you gotta do is stick it onto your underwear.

4. Like Elo said, bring 2 or 3 pads with you. Just in case.

1. It’s different for everyone. You might get a light flow, you might get a heavy flow. It also depends when you get your period, but most of the time during the first year it’s irregular. When I started mine, it was pretty regular though so it depends.

2. Just straight up tell your mom.

3. If you want to.

4. It depends on what you’re most comfortable with. Pads, you just stick them in your underwear, and tampons, I’m pretty sure you push them up your hole thing (I hope you know what I’m talking about cause I don’t wanna go into detail) and I’ve heard it’s uncomfortable, but it’s swimming-compatible unlike pads. My advice is to start with pads and if you’re comfortable, then try tampons. There’s also stuff like period cups.

5. Bring 2 or 3 pads with you in case you get it. Maybe get a spare pair of pants too. Hope the people you’re babysitting don’t notice. If they do, then I dunno.

6. I guess your mom?

I'm a trans dude, so I still get my period. Not sure if that counts, but whatever xD.

I got my period when I was 12, if that helps at all, but then again it's different for everyone so I wouldn't rush it. My friend got hers when she was 7, and my other friend got his when he was 9 (he's also trans. Just wanna clear that up to prevent confusion).

Honestly, just outright tell her, "Hey, mom, I got my period. Can you get me some pads/tampons and give me some tips?", or something like that. She's been through the same thing and she knows what to do. The most important thing is to not panic.

You should also tell your dad. Its best if he knows so he doesn't have to find out and be surprised. You don't want to catch him off guard, because that would be even more awkward.

I reccomend pads if you are just getting your period and tampons later on.

If you have a job, such as babysitting, bring extra pads/tampons with you and change them when necessary. You can also bring wipes and a water bottle. If you get really bad cramps, bring a heating pad (my friend uses a heating pad and it really helps them).

You can expect cramps, fatigue, dizziness, and an overall unhappy/neutral mood. Remember, its different for everyone, so don't rush it :]

Hey! I can try to answer!

1. You should expect some blood, but usually on the first time it isn't a lot. It can vary from person to person.

2. The best option is to tell your mom as soon as possible since she can help you!! Just straight up tell her if possible!

3. You can tell your dad if you want and if you feel comfortable!

4. Pads are better for beginners because it's way easier. As you get older, you may want to use a tampon, but until then stick with pads!

5. If you get it on a babysitting job or anywhere really, then tell or call someone you trust (like your mom)

6. Usually, the first person people tell is their mom, but it can vary!

1. It depends

2. Just flat out tell her

3. Only if you want

4. Start with pads

5. Have a bag full of pads/tampons in case

6. Better to tell people that kind of thing in person

Hope this helps!
