Question

Well, here we are. Another vent. Ill try to make this my last. Im sorry.

so I have been asking my dad a long time for a nose piercing. Not a big one, just a fairly small one. He let me get my ears pierced when I was in kindergarden, so I didnt expect him to freak out. Anyways, he got annoyed. Said he knew someone with a lot of piercings and that I couldn't get one till I was 16. He also said, for some reason, that its not legal to get a nose piercing under 18 in my state, even though I literally searched up the law and its completely legal as long as the parent/guardian is also ok with it.

So we got into a huge debate. I kept it pretty calm, he didn't. It ended with him chasing me up to my room, banging open the door, and yelling and pointing at me. He grabbed my legs to get me to listen. When I didnt, he grabbed my collar and shoved my head on the wall (not hard, but it still hurt). He punched my leg and threatened me. He threatened to beat me up and leave me at my moms door. He threatened to throw me off a bridge. Yeah, you get the gist of it.

AND HE DENIED IT IMMEDIETELY AFTERWARDS. HE SAID I STARTED IT AND THAT I WAS THE ONE WHO FREAKED OUT. HE ALSO SAID THAT ME HAVING A MENTAL BREAKDOWN BC OF HIS ACTIONS WAS MY FAULT AND THAT I COULD CHOOSE TO HAVE ONE. LIKE DUDE, EXCUSE ME?

im just annoyed at this point. The amount of times i could have called CPS on him but didn't is astonishing. This man is genuinely insane and is gaslight ing me into thinking im in the wrong.

The previous vents were pretty overdramatic and not as bad but this one…

This one was bad.

Like if he’s arguing with you and stuff thats bad but its not “imma call cps” bad

If he starts PUNCHING YOU, SLAMMING YOUR HEAD AGAINST THE WALL, AND THREATENING YOU, THATS WHEN YOU CALL.

Stop procrastinating. Call cps already.

It’s simple: stop procrastinating and start calling CPS. And also tell a counselor or close friend that your dad is abusing you, because that’s definitely child abuse.

Your dad also makes no sense because he said that you couldn’t get a nose piercing until you’re 16 and he also said that the non-existent state minimum age is 18. Hmm…

I know a lot of y'all complain because of things like this, and you probably know that you don't have it the worst, but your parent doesn't have a bad point. There's no reason you should be trying to disobey him and his wishes, you don't have the rights to do whatever you want right now. You can do whatever the heck you want when you're older, but he shouldn't have to say no more than once for you to obey.

It is quite common for a child to be beat if they're being disobedient, and although that may not very good, it is common.

I don't really care how common it is. Murder is common, but not right. Hurting people and threatening them is never right, especially when the victim was being calm and mature about the argument.

That's a good point, I actually didn't want to argue in the first place becuase there will always be some kind of logical fallacy. I respect that we have differing opinions.

Wilbur, please pretty please with a cherry on top go to a school counselor, or a friends mom. Anyone. Tell anyone. This just isn’t okay. I wish I could bust down your door and scream at your dad. What the actual heck does he think he’s doing!?

I want you to completely understand it’s not your fault. Your dad is a psychopath I should know and this shouldn’t be happening.

Honestly, i like dunno wouldn't know what to do in that situation. Personally, your dad needs some therapy. Like, you JUST asked for a nose piercing. He could've answered in a way more different way than that. That is like, abusive behavior from ur dad, and im glad u like, came to here to talk abt it. To cheer you up, here is a tomato.
