So, in history we're starting our immigration unit. Everyone (or team)i chose alone) got to pick a country. I picked Sweden. 

Here's the info

• Great migration was caused because of economics, social issues and agricultural problems  (19th and 20th century)

• Early 19th century  more jobs

• Mid The great swedish famine (1867-69)

• Late 19th century most ghad been peasants and wanted more and had crop failures

• 20th century needed for economic development 

• Investment (18th century)

• Beginning of 7th century Vikings, trading with  and raiding countries

• 54% lived in the midwest. Mostly Illinois and Minnesota 

• 15% lived in the east. New England Mostly New york ciy , .Worcester Massachusetts.

• 10% in the west Washington State and California 

• Mostly Minnesota for land and employment. 

• Lumber camps/farming/Other seasonal work

• Helped build the James J. Hill's great northern railway and process wheat into flour

• Severe weather difficulties 

• Well accepted 

• Easily blended in

• Made a quick and smooth transition to become americanized
