So, in history we're starting our immigration unit. Everyone (or team)i chose alone) got to pick a country. I picked Sweden.

Great migration was caused because of economics, social issues and agricultural problems (19th and 20th century)
Early 19th century more jobs
Mid The great swedish famine (1867-69)
Late 19th century most ghad been peasants and wanted more and had crop failures
20th century needed for economic development
Investment (18th century)
Beginning of 7th century Vikings, trading with and raiding countries
54% lived in the midwest. Mostly Illinois and Minnesota
15% lived in the east. New England Mostly New york ciy , .Worcester Massachusetts.
10% in the west Washington State and California
Mostly Minnesota for land and employment.
Lumber camps/farming/Other seasonal work
Helped build the James J. Hill's great northern railway and process wheat into flour
Severe weather difficulties
Well accepted
Easily blended in
Made a quick and smooth transition to become americanized
