Before I start, i do want to say that if you like family channels, I respect your opinion. However, this is from the perscreptive of somebody who thinks negatively about this topic
Family channels are some of the most popular types of Youtube channels. These channels are basically just parents vlogging about their kids, parenting etc.
at first glance, this kind of content is "Sweet" and "Wholesome" but it actually isn't
Now, There are some good family channels that don't exploit their kids. Some of these are GEM sisters and Family Fun Pack. But a lot of these really love to exploit their kids.
well, they littearly put videos of the most personal things about their kids' lives. Your son started kindergarten? post a video on it. Your son is sick? make clickbait out of it. This isn't ok. You're basically controlling your kids' lives.
One huge example is the children's channel Ryan's world. Ryan is a 12-year old kid who has been on Youtube for almost a decade.
There is proof in some of the videos in which Ryan dosen't want to appear. In One video, he asks to hang out with his little twin sisters, Kate and Emma. In the video, his mom lies to her that they're asleep and Ryan gets mad on camera.
if he dosen't want to be involved, DONT let him get involved.
Another example of exploitation of children is the Labrant family. What's weird is that Kidztalk has added THEIR WHOLE CHANNEL, which they dealt with a lot of controversy. They made a video lying that one of their daughters had Cancer, which wasn't true. They also made their daughter TRAUMATIZED over her dog's death for views as a prank.
there are people who gain depression from the death of their pets, and you're lying about it for likes and followers
And also, They used California wildfires for views.
There was also a Youtuber who adopted an Autistic boy from China, and now this may seem wholesome but then that youtuber found that boy didn't want to make videos with her so she took him back to adoption
I'm Autistic myself, and even thought we are all diferent, we are still humans
I can't believe that people are doing this to their kids. Kids are too young to be appearing in full on Youtube videos. My parents sometimes post photos of myself on social media, but it never really personal stuff. I wish there was a law that prohibed this
