So I know lots of people on here who like Nordic stuff and I found out something AMAZING in class :3

Christopher Columbus was actually the second explorer to find America. The first person was Lief Eriksson. He was a Viking born in Iceland in 970. His family later moved to Greenland. There he heard about an unexplored area. He and his crew sailed until they landed in what is now Canada in 1000. He named the area Vinland and created a settlement. It didn't last, though. Eriksson left. One theory we have is that he may have fought with the Native Americans already living there. Welp, that's all.
