Elves of Cadia
Chapter 1
Viviana leaned back against the wall behind her bed as she started to think. Her mother, Queen Victoria of Cadia, was a pure mortal, just like she was. But her father, King Harold of Cadia, was an immortal. So what did that make her?
Viviana’s pointy ears were being hanged down by long gold earrings her mother insisted she wear. Quickly, she pulled them off and laid them on the drawer next to her bed. There was no time to think about this. The party starts in a few minutes. She put on her best shoes and went downstairs.
Viviana glanced at her mother who frowned at her for not wearing the earrings. Viviana instantly knew that she would be getting in big trouble after the party, but she didn’t care. She had more important things to worry about, and it was definitely not greeting the guests.
It was the curly brown hair peeking at the glass of the window.
Slowly, Viviana walked to the window and raised the glass. Her friend, Ray, peeked out the window and grinned. “Hello Vivi,” he said. “Climb out,”
“Are you crazy? You are trying to get me in trouble.”
“Am not. I’m trying to save you.”
“FROM WHAT?!”
“This boring party. Don’t you want to have an adventure?”
Viviana thought for a moment. They’d zip out and come back. Her parents would never know. It would be the best adventure they’d ever have. After a few moments, Viviana knew what she was going to do.
“I’m coming,” she said.
Ray beamed. “We better not be late then. C’mon, princess.”

Viviana and Ray scurried around the village. Viviana felt amazing about escaping the party. It has been a very long time since she went outside with only one friend. Her pink hair and green eyes might attract some people, though. She had to be careful about that.
Ray grinned one of his recognizable grins as he looked at Viviana. “What do you think about this?”
The princess’s eyes sparkled. “I love it.”
Ray and Viviana walked about until they found a forest bigger than the Castle of Cadia. “Wow.” said the two as they stared at the forest. Nobody in Cadia had seen forests this big.
“I can’t believe no one told us about this forest. Wanna come?” Ray said.
“Of course, Ray.”
They walked into the forest. Viviana and Ray found animals of all kinds. The only animal that attracted Viviana was a cat on the top of a very small tree. “C’mere, kitty!” she said. The cat stayed and didn’t make a single noise. “Well,” said Viviana. “Guess you don’t wanna come down.” She walked away.
The cat quickly jumped off the tree and followed Viviana and Ray. The princess stroked behind its ears. Ray just stared at the cat. “Are you sure you want to bring it?” Ray said.
Viviana nodded. “It’s a girl. Only girl cats in Cadia have amber eyes.” Viviana knew a lot of stuff about animals. “So I’ll name it Willow.”
Ray was not a big fan of animals like Viviana was, but he just sighed as Viviana carried the feline with her.
Suddenly, a bright light showed up in front of Ray. Viviana screamed and clutched Willow tighter. Such lights were not found in forests.
Ray walked near it. “C’mon Viviana. This is the start of an adventure!”
Viviana argued. “No! I don’t want any of us to get hurt!” She put Willow down. “Ray, I’m not going inside that light. Never!”
Ray shrugged. “Fine. Then I’ll go by myself.” Ray walked towards the light and disappeared.
Viviana screamed. “Ray!” she shrieked. “I’m coming with you! I can’t let you do this alone!” Viviana picked up Willow once more and jumped into the light. The light then disappeared. Viviana and Ray were gone.
