You can find them just about anywhere that once had the right conditions for them to form. That normally requires water, like a river or stream so minerals can deposit on the bones and turn them into stone that lasts much longer than bones. However, the stream could be long gone after it has done its job, meaning fossils can be found almost anywhere.
