I played with my peas as Pa lectured me.

" Now, you know there are coyotes down there in the summer noon,and many other dangers down at that old oak down there!"

Ma sighed " Denis, I think they got it all right,better. Not waste your breath on it considering the tickets for the derby.You may be excused now,girls"

I practiced riding Clo for the next two hours."HEEELLP!!!

My head shot up

STELLAAA! 

She was on the ground,holding her leg.She was fine,but her horse...Stell threw herself on her orse and sobbed

" coyotes........they got 'er........she's dead Dawn,dead!......

Her words echoed through me

"MA! PA! STELL'S HURT"

 

Then i was the one sobbing
