YouTube has been known for giving people unfair strikes, warnings, and terminations. Today, I started a live stream where I recorded myself doing my homework. After a minute or two, YouTube removed it, and sent me an email. Here's what the email read:

Hi

We wanted to let you know our team reviewed your content, and we think it violates our child safety policy. We know you may not have realized this was a violation of our policies, so we're not applying a strike to your channel. However, we have removed the following content from YouTube:

Kids (people under 13) aren't allowed to have YouTube channels. In your live stream, it sounds like you showed your face, confirming that you are under 13 (assuming you are under 13). The reason for this (dumb) rule is because many adults think kids will act like:

"MY CreDIT CraD NuMbeR is [credit card number]

mY phOne nUMbER is [phone number]

My hoUSE ADDreSs is [house address]

my iP aDDreSS IS [IP address]"

In my lifetime, I've only saw about 1 or 2 kids (out of the 999999999999999999999999999999999999999 kids I've met) who would act like this.

Um, perhaps they don't allow minors to post livestreams?

It is allowed if the person in the video is clearly supervised by an adult.

Well were you clearly supervised by an adult??

Live streams featuring minors

To better protect minors on YouTube, we don't allow children under the age of 13 to live stream unless they are visibly accompanied by an adult. Channels not in compliance with this policy may lose their ability to live stream.

If you’re between the age of consent to 17, you need at least 1,000 subscribers to live stream from a mobile device. Learn more about mobile live streaming requirements.
