**WARNING: THIS IS A SUMMARY BASED OFF OF A DARK AND VIOLENT ANIME. PROCEDE WITH CAUTION. NONE OF THE CHARACTERS OR STORYLINE BELONGS TO ME. I AM MERELY SUMMARIZING THE PLOT OF EPISODE 1 SEASON 1 FOR ENTERTAINMENT REASONS. THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR THE PROMISED NEVERLAND. THANK YOU**

Emma is an 11 year old girl that lives at Grace Field Orphanage, along with 37 other children. She is one of the oldest there, along with her best friends: Ray and Norman. All the children there eventually get sent to foster homes when they turn 12.

The orphanage is run by a 31-year-old woman named Isabella, whom all the kids refer to as "Mom" (English) or "Mama" (Japanese). She seems very kind hearted and cares deeply for all the children there.

It is time for a young girl named Conny to be sent to her foster home. She is 6 years old. She promises the other children that she will sent letters every day and never forget about them.

Later that night, Mama Isabella walks Conny to the gate at the edge of the Grace Field property.  Inside, there is a large truck that is meant to take Conny to her new home.

Meanwhile, Emma is cleaning in the dining hall and finds Conny's favorite stuffed toy, whom she refers to as "Little Bunny". Emma panics as Conny was meant to bring it with her, and Ray informs her that she could deliver it to Conny before the truck leaves.

Emma and Norman rush to the gate, but can't find Mama Isabella or Conny. Emma peeks into the back of the truck, and finds Conny's limp body inside, a bright burning red flower in her chest. Emma is shocked and drops Little Bunny. Before Emma and Norman can react, though, they hear voices and are forced to hide under the vehicle. Two large figures appear, both of them draped in dark cloaks and speaking in deep voices. They are demons.

One of them grabs Conny's limp body and puts her in a tank. The demons talk about how delicious her body must be, but how much a "normal quality child" she is.

Suddenly, Emma and Norman hear Mama Isabella's voice, and she is speaking about shipping them out next, along wth Ray.

One of the demons smells the children under the truck, and bends down to have a look. By that point, however, Emma and Norman are already running back up the hill towards the House. They are devastated when they put the pieces together and find out that they live in a world full of demons, ready to eat them, and that Grace Field Orphanage is actually a farm for children.

They can't tell the other children, however, and the next morning, Emma has trouble hiding what she knows. They don't tell Ray what they saw. Norman must remind Emma to smile and act like they didn't notice anything.

Later that day, the children are all playing tag outside when a little boy named Phil runs to Mama Isabella and tells her that he got separated from a girl named Naila when they were playing in the forest. Phil begins sobbing, but Mama doesn't seem bothered and pulls out her pocketwatch. She smiles and tells Phil that it will be ok, then goes off into the forest and returns with Naila a few minutes later. This alerts Norman and Emma that Mama Isabella's pocket watch is actually a tracking device, and that all the children must have one implanted in them somewhere.

Will the children be able to escape? Can they deceive Mama Isabella and break the tracking devices? Will the younger children believe them?

I hope you enjoyed this summary of episode 1, season 1. I highly encourage you to watch this anime for yourself, as it is perfect for those who love a good scare now and again. If you would like me to continue summarizing more episodes, please tell me and I will.

Well, it does have a lot of creepy monsters, but the story is top tier. I suggest you read the manga though, I hear the anime isn't that good since it went off-track from the original story (especially S2).

You can watch it here or read it here.
