Sick.
So sick.
The cough hurts my throat.
I cough so much, my side hurts.
Everything hurts.
I make tea, hoping the oolong running down my throat will soothe the pain.
It hurts.
It hurts to swallow, to breathe, to speak.
Mom says, “Mix water with salt.”
“Gargle it, it’ll help.”
It hurts.
I hate being sick.
The saltwater doesn’t help.
Nothing helps.
I cry, and the tears run into my mouth, tasting like saltwater.
Sick.
So sick.
And nothing can help.
