First of all we use emoji's to express feeling's lets just look at he past and the present.
Past: Hey what's up Tammy!! I went to the park yesterday it was really fun but my brother kept cheating at hiding seek.
Would you like to read messages like that or like this

In my opinion I think emoji's reveal feelings in writing, it gives your writer a better idea of what your feeling. Here's another example, Hey Tammy I don't feel good
I think I'll have to pass school. Now we can tell the writer doesn't feel good but she's happy that's she's not going to school. Do you remember the classic Emoji's? These guys :) :( :P :D X) XD. Those guys were pretty cool now we have these guys 
. The first Emoji was made in 1998 or 1999 by Shigetaka Kurita, who was part of the team working on NTT DoCoMo's i-mode mobile Internet platform. 
The emoji's originated on Japanese mobile phones in the late 1990s, emoji have become very popular.
