New Feature - Private Messaging

Question

We want to make an official announcement about the new private messaging feature. If you are a registered user and click on the profile of another user, you will see a private message button. Currently, you can only message moderators and staff. Please use it to report any problems or concerns you are having.

We plan to open the beta release to messaging other users. However, it will take some time to fully complete, since we need to keep everyone safe, just like we do with regular KidzTalk posts and answers/comments. We will make an announcement when it is open to more users.

Do you have any questions about the current version? What do you think about getting email notifications when a private message is sent? Should that be optional? What features would you like to see?

It might be possible, but not for this release.

I think email notifications should be optional. Not everyone wants them, but there’s definitely people that do.

You could get a notification (like how you get them in the updates section when you get best answer, upvotes, comments, etc) in the updates section. Email notifications should be optional, like when you post a answer you have the option to get an email if your answer is selected or commented on.

Or you could just add a updates section that says "Messages" or something like that where you can check your messages.

Also is this in KN too?

I think you shouldn't get an email.

But to let u know there should be something in with the other notifications.

If that doesn't work the email notifications should be optional

The current system will give you a notification when you log in,  just like it does now for comments to a post.
