So, today was kind of a hard day.
Well.... I had to stay at my aunts' house. All 5 of my aunts (who live in the US, I have some that still live in Venezuela) live there, as well as 2 of my uncles and one of my cousins.
Now, I was sitting at the table, eating lunch and I was listening to Scandinavian Music (To be more specific, I was listening to Haloo Helsinki which is a Rock band im starting to like a lot) and it is pretty loud in there. My Aunts are very loud, and I don't like loud noises since I am Autistic.
They also have a speaker that plays Spanish Music 24/7, and I'm talking about the clean Spanish Music. The thing is that this music is very romantic, and It makes me uncomfortable (I'm ok with some love songs, I mean... I love the song Tahdon by Haloo Helsinki and it is a love song, but it is just a cute love song about travelling with your partner.) The kind of love songs they like are very weird, and that's all they play.
One of them said "Why don't you stop listening to your artificial and meaningless music."
I almost fell. Artificial. HOW IS MY MUSIC ARTIFICIAL? Now, Haloo Helsinki is a modern rock band that debuted in 2007. But I listen to a lot of Nordic folk songs , in fact about 80% of my taste is Traditional and 20% is Modern (and recently Baltic folk songs, I am obssesed with the band Curly Strings from Estonia now)
and Meaningless... Well, the songs I listen to are part of Nordic history. I littearly listen to songs about Nordic history events. One of my new favorite songs, Ack hör du lille Erik (what have you heard about Erik) by Folk Och Rackare is about an event in 1600s Sweden. How is that meaningless? Be Thankful that your niece is listening to educational music.
so after eating I ran upstairs because well... I did not feel comfortable going back downstairs. I mean, I can't listen to music that isn't in Spanish or English so I am disapointed. What's Ironic is that I am one of the only younger people in my family who is balanced between speaking English and Spanish (Most of my cousins forgot their Spanish, Not me.
So yeah, Here is a lesson. If You are a teen girl who visits the house of all your aunts who are recent Immigrants from Venezuela, don't listen to Haloo Helsinki. Just kidding, listen to whatever you want as long as it is age appropiate for you. Bye Vikings. Smash that upvote button and subscribe
