within the Neurodivergent community, there is an issue that I haven't noticed until now, but I want to talk about it here anyways.
Whole Body Listening.
Now, A lot of schools hold posters for whole body listening. In most of these posters, it is shown that it is "respectful" to sit down still, Not move your arms, doing eye contact.
Now. This isn't respectful. Why? well. This poster appearently is aimed at Neurodivergent
Some kids, Like kids with Autisim and ADHD have to do some movements in other to pay attention better. Now, I am not saying stuff like run around the room, but movements you can do to sit down, like flapping your hands (which I do)
I am Autistic, and it is really hard for me to pay attention in some assemblies. Usually I do watch them, but I wear headphones due to the overwhelming amount of noise.
a lot of people compare this to a certain type of Autisim therapy called ABA (Not ABBA) therapy. this therapy is for kids so they can "act" like Neurotypical kids. This therapy is illegal in several countries like Canada and The UK.
so, what is your opinion on whole body listening.
