1. They try to sneak lessons in the books. The author started doing this in either book 4 or 5, but it's really annoying. If it's supposed to be written by kids, it would likely not have a moral. I think this is a move forced by Scholastic/Graphix, the publisher.

2. Petey is a good guy?! Petey was a perfectly fine villain, and then Li'l Petey came in and somehow made Petey a good guy.

3. Why is it called Dog Man, if it's about Li'l Petey? Unlike what the title says, Dog Man is not the main character in the newer books. It's more about Li'l Petey and Petey, who's facing problems with becoming a good guy and Grampa. Li'l Petey has his own book series, and he's the least important character in that series.

I'm hoping that the author retcons book 5-11 or reboots the entire series.

While everyone is entitled to their own opinions, it's important to remember that different readers may have different preferences when it comes to books. What may be considered "terrible" by one person may be enjoyed by another. It's also worth considering that as series progress, authors may choose to explore different themes and characters in order to keep the story fresh and engaging for readers. Ultimately, it's up to the author and publisher to decide the direction of the series, and it's okay for readers to have differing opinions on the content.

I haven’t read dog man in a long time, but I used to love the books. I stopped reading them because they became so repetitive. I haven’t really read the new ones but I know theyre just repeats really. Same old average storyline or whatever.

The problem is after like book 8 they run out of ideas and start trying to make money off of books instead

I think a lot of long running book series (i.e. Diary of a Wimpy Kid) kinda do this too

Agree to disagree, I guess. (Also, I'm kind of glad they're bringing a bit of focus back to Flippy, he's my favorite character and seeing him return in the later books brought me joy)

and he had a cameo in book 9

Number 1 is annoying, but just remember that if you remove the lessons, Common Sense Media will get angry. And you don’t want that site to be angry.
