An Ode To The Jaguar
Jaguar, jaguar:
Lurking in the rainforest.
With fur the color of a canary
And spots the color of tar.
Jaguar, jaguar:
You hunt like a man,
For you are not picky
And stalk carefully.
Jaguar, jaguar:
You blend with the sun
So your prey has no hope of spotting you.
Jaguar, jaguar:
Your claws are sharp and curled like a knife,
While your nose is the color of a piglet,
And your tail is long like a rope.
Jaguar, jaguar:
A strong beast indeed.
For you wrestle crocodiles for your meal.
Jaguar, jaguar:
You are not always the color of a canary,
For sometimes both your spots and fur are the color of tar.
In that case indeed, you blend with the night.
Jaguar, jaguar:
I feel a sense of pity near you.
For your home is being destroyed by man.
Jaguar, jaguar:
