Everyone was just so down at the Verez house. No one could ever imagine that Victor had run away from home, especially on Mrs. Verez's watch. She got an earful from Mr. Verez that would last a lifetime.
"You just let our son leave? HOW COULD YOU, MARISSA!" He would shout, and Mrs. Verez would be crying. "I never meant for this to happen," she would explain, but then he would say, "You probably would never mean for him to turn up dead, but hey, anything's possible with a CUTTHROAT GANG! YOU NEVER EVER ONCE CALLED FOR MY HELP! HOW CAN I TRUST YOU WITH ANYTHING? I CAN'T EVEN TRUST YOU TO HOLD DOWN THE HOUSE WHILE I'M GONE? COME ON, MARISSA, YOU'RE BETTER THAN THIS!"
Tony would be sitting on the steps of the building. He couldn't bare to face his family knowing that he might get killed in there if they ever found out his sins. But just then, a kid his age walked up to him. It was Miles, his best friend, who is also on his basketball team.
