How does the moon create tides

The moon is so big that it creates a gravitational force pulling the earth towards it causing the water to get lifted up. I have no idea what gravity is, but we know it exists.

You don't know what gravity is? Oh, well it's this thing where Earth has its own gravitational field, and it makes sure you can't get out into space without a rocket ship, basically. And it has a force that keeps you grounded on Earth so you don't go floating around. Think of Newton and the apple. Thanks for the info and link. I meant more that I can't see gravity and nobody ever has a good answer about what makes it work. If I push a book and it moves, I know what caused the book to move. I read things about space-time warping stuff being the source, but it just seems almost like a made up explanation that works on paper. The same is true for magnets and electrical forces, or even our own brains.
