Last time i talked about the 10 Essentials
I will be talking about camping now.
To make sure that you Camping trip is always fun and safe i recommend following these steps.:
1. Check the weather reports for the selected time of the trip
2. Do a pack check to make sure you have all your essentials
3. Bring Animal proof food bags to protect your food from the wild. alot of Bear attacks happen when a bear smells food that was NOT properly stored. Either store food in your car, or hang animal proof bags from 2 trees. Both of these need to be atleast 100 yards away from camp
4. Bring a small tool kit in case you need to make repairs to your gear, cars, etc.
5. Bring bear spray, and other animal deterrents. If you own one, and are camping in a Fire-Arm friendly area i recommend bring a side arm for protection. Bear spray can some times work, though there was a grizzly bear attack here in MT were the victim sprayed the bear, but the animal was not deterred for he ran strait through the spray.
6. Always examine your campsite. I am a boy scout, so you kinda get some stories about scout tragedies. one of them was when a scout troop went camping, but they did not examine the site. The area were they chose to camp was a riverbed, but it was raining heavily that day. the night of the camp out, the river bed flooded, killing the entire troop.
7. Have Fun while being SAFE. Better Safe than Sorry.
