Chapter 2: Makeover

At home later, Mom looked at me with a disgusted face. "What the heck is wrong with your hair? It's so.. short. Its uneven. It's weird. What were you thinking!?" I scowled at her and mumbled some words that don't belong in a book for kids. My dad didn't seem happy that I cut my hair without his consent, either. All he said was, "Kaylianna Rae Robinson."  I rolled my eyes and went in my room.

My room is very prideful. I have non-binary flags, rainbows and posters that say "Love is Love" with at least a trillion different flags on it. But I have to hid all of it behind my curtains so my homophobic family doesn't see it. My brother Max, and my sister Maxine (my parents got lazy with their names) are also very homophobic and also hate me.

Maxine knocked on my door and I freaked out. I pulled curtains down to hide my beautiful stuff. "Come in!" I called. She walked in with Oreos (my reason for living in_love) and I grabbed 8 of them. "Ewww, your hair!!" she yelled. "Get your fat butt over here!!" The last thing I wanna be called is fat, so I pushed her against my nightstand. "I. AM. NOT. FAT!!!!!!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. She grabbed my belly. "This says otherwise." I slapped her hand and spat in her 5 inch long eyelashes. Don't mess with me unless you want a face full of drool.

Maxine dragged me by my hoodie to her room. She grabbed a blonde wig and plopped it on my head. "Hey-" I started, but she poofed my face with blush and powder. "Time to make you look actually nice." I rubbed my glasses with my hoodie and frowned angrily.

What felt like hours later passed. Finally she was done. I was ready to fall asleep when she shoved me in front of a floor-to-ceiling mirror. I gasped. Blonde locks bounced around on my bare shoulders when I walked. My glasses were gone. I had pink eyeshadow, blue eyelashes, an excessive amount of blush, and green lipstick. I looked like a party. My dress was hot pink, short, and was covered in sequins, reflecting the light of the pink room. My black combat boots were so cool! "I-I-" was all I could sputter out. It was too much. I looked like a girl. I hated it. I threw off the blonde wig and stepped on it. I ripped off my outfit, until I only had on shorts and a tang top. "I HATE IT!" I yelled. I stormed away, steaming mad. "But I'll be keeping the boots."
