Chapter 4: Liam
After I headed out, I rode my bike to a Mcdonald's and sat down inside. I got some weird looks because I was wearing my non-binary flag beanie and a hoodie in summer. The waitress was a young girl, like 14 or 15. I read her nametag.
"Sarah"
"I like your name," I said randomly.
"Oh! Thanks! I love your hoodie. I need one like that!!" She squealed.
I was genuinely surprised. "Are your pronouns they/them?" I asked. "Yeah! I wanna change my name to Alex when I'm eighteen," They said. I ordered a Big Mac, extra-large fries, a milkshake and a soda. "Woah, that's a lot for a kid!" said Sarah. "I'm twelve." "I'm 16," they said. They handed me my food and I devoured it in under 5 minutes. "Bye, Sarah," I said as I walked out. "Bye!' I heard them call.
It was getting late, and I was only like 15 minutes from my house. "I need to get farther from those stupid, piece of poop people," I muttered under my breath. I was heading down the side of the highway, off the road, on my bike when I heard somebody familliar.
"KAYLIANNA!" I turned around.
And I saw Liam. I almost screamed with happiness. His mom pulled into the shoulder of the road and he ran out. I almost fell when he ran into me to hug me. "Kay... I was so worried! I love you!! Uhm.. As a best friend.. Not in a weirdo way.." He stuttered. "I love you too, in a not weirdo way," I said, laughing. His green eyes sparkled with tears as he explained how my parents told his moms that I was missing, and they immediatly started trying to find us.
"I was so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so so SO SO SO scared!!" He grabbed my hand and led me to his car so his moms could drive me home. I twisted my wrist away. "Liam, I ran away. I wasn't kidnapped or anything. I came out accedentily," I said. "HOW IN THE HOLY HECK DO YOU ACCEDENTALY COME OUT??" He yelled. "It's because.. Well, my mom found my pride stuff and got mad, and I made the stupid mistake of saying I deffinatly wasn't non-binary or gay, and my mom put two and two together." I said. "And she slapped me, and I jumped out of the window with my suitcase," I added. "Ohhh. Okay. Lemme go talk to my moms about this," He said, and ran off to the orange Tesla. "Mom and Mum, Kaylianna has been through some drama!" I heard him say.
He came back after a little while, and told me his moms agreed to let me hang out at their house for a while until my parents cooled down and I felt comfortable going back home. I smiled and hugged the Mrs. Smiths. I pushed my bike into their trunk, and we headed to my new home.
