Chapter 9: Years ago
I look out of the window, watching the sunrise. Peyton runs up to me, with her goregous brown curls flying behind her. "Hey, mom! Can you tell me a story?"
I smile. "Maybe later," I reply, thinking about my own story. Leo puts his arm around me. He smiles, and I kiss his cheek. I remember my life, at twelve, when I ran away. It was 2023. Now its 2054. Anyway, you might be wondering, what happened next? Where are you now?
My mom and dad didn't make it out of the hospital after the accident. Maxine and Max ran away, not knowing where to go. Liam and Leo's moms became my legal guardians. Years later, I graduated highschool, and moved on to art college. My moms were so proud of me! Leo and I became, well, y'know.... Liam was still my BBFFANAMTT (Boy Best Friend Forever And Not Anything More Than That)!!!! I had Peyton, my beautiful daughter, who was now 7 years old. I made sure to name her something gender-neutral, for obvious reasons.
"You know what? I'll tell you a story. It's about a person and their mean family, and how they found their forever love," I tell Peyton, stroking her cheek. "YES YES YES, MAMA!" She screamed excitedly. "Who is it about?"
