Hej Guys, It's Carly
Now, I am a Nordic history kid as you guys know, and even thought I've been one for almost 2 years, I had a lot of identity crises when it came to Nordic history.
I had the "Cringe and Misinformed Viking enthusiast" phase. I had the "BRING BACK THE KALMAR UNION IN MODERN TIME!!!!!!!!! PHASE" and I had the "Chaotic Scandinavian Emigration era kid" phase and I don't know what I am because I think all eras are coolio.
We all know about Vilhelm Moberg and his book series “The Emigrants.” what if i told you that there is THE EMIGRANTS FOR ELEMANTRY KIDS.
The series is by Joan Sandin, and it’s called “A long way to the new land” and it’s about this guy called Karl-Erik and his family who Emigrate to Minnesota
I HAVE READ TOO MANY SCANDINAVIAN-AMERICAN IMMIGRANT STORIES SET IN MINNESOTA JUST STOP ALREADY-
I see a similarity between Karl-Erik and Karl-Oskar… Is Karl-Erik’s Karl-Oskar’s alter ego (Well, No. Karl only has an older brother and older sister)
The series is 3 books. You know what 3+1 is, it’s 4. You know what has 4 books? The Emigrants by Vilhelm Moberg.
The series is in the I can read series, it is level 3. The 3rd level is for 2nd to 4th graders, or 7 to 9 year olds.
Now Imagine, it is a normal day and little jimmy had library day. You asked little jimmy what he got, and he pulled up the whole collection and you collapsed like a roblox avatar because you are now getting flashbacks to your 14-year old self’s The Emigrants by Vilhelm Moberg phase.
I mean… LET THE KIDS DO THEIR NORDIC HISTORY. Now that we got a whole SERIES of these books, we need a whole collection of the other Eras.
Wheeze
Bye Bye - Carly
