Chapter 2
"Mia Angeline Tomlin!"
I hear my Mom's voice call me at 5:34 am.
"why this early?" I call back.
"Mia! It's 8:23! School starts in 10 minutes!"
I look at the clock again.
"What?" I scream as I jolt out of bed and get dressed.
I slide on my skinny jeans and plain white tee shirt and check myself in the mirror.
I look super skinny.
"Mia! Hurrey!" Mom calls me.
"I know Mom! Jeez!" I yell back.
I head down the stairs and see my Mom pouring cheerios into a bowl.
"Honey! Why didn't you wake up when your alarm went off? It's the first day of school, goodness," my mom says.
" my alarm didn't go off" I say.
"Oh, darn it! I must've forgotten to set it last night!" Mom says, annoyed. She hands me my cereal and spoon.
" did Dad call last night? " I ask.
"No. He's flying to Hawaii, so he won't be able to until he's actually in Hawaii."
"Oh."
