SOO, FH, I had the same problem: all my tabs closed and my story was lost... so, cutting to the chase, River wakes up to Miles leaving, he hugs her and she goes back to sleep. Randy literally knocks over the door and she gets dressed to go save Nora and Miles' butts. We're at the point where Ran and Riv get there.
Randy observed the barrier with his dark eyes. "You're an idiot," he said loudly to Miles. "What, did you hit something? This is a siren's wall."
River took a step towards it and touched it. It was cold yet somewhat soft feeling. But she couldn't get past it. "How do we get 'em out?" River asked Randy attentively.
"Only a siren can break a siren's wall. Aren't you half?"
"Yes. Isn't a succubus par siren and part demon?" \
"Yeah. And Miles, you're an incubus, but it wont work. Only female Sirens can break the wall, am I correct, Nora?"
Nora shrugged. "I have no idea..."
"Riv," said Randy. "Can you channel your energy?"
"A little bit, why?"
"Walk through the wall with your body encased in the energy and the wall will break."
"Um, okay?" said River. Everyone watched as she thought hard. She extended her arms and from the fingertips came little flames the color of her hair and wings, and as she stood, her whole body went up into the flames, her hair a candle-like fire. As she lowered her arms, the flames started to come off her like smoke, disappearing. She opened her eyes, and everyone saw they were white-hot.
"Whoa," said Miles. Nora was grinning and Randy had an indifferent expression.
"So, I just walk through?" River's voice was trembling and far-away sounding.
"Yup," said Randy.
With meaningful strides, River purged the barrier. As she came out on the other side. the shield went up like mist. With a shuddering breath, River's flames went up as well. She glanced around to see Nora, who was helping her off the ground she had fallen onto.
"You okay?" she asked. River nodded.
"Must be embarrassing," said Randy, coolly to Miles. "Having a girl shorter than you save you."
Miles scowled at him, but then smiled good-naturedly.
"Boy, do I have a story to tell," said Randy, his grin lighting up the area.
Miles's smile fell off his face. "No!! Don't tell anyone! That'll be the end of me!"
"Mmmhmmm," said Randy, still smiling impishly.
Nora looked up. "Thanks guys," she said.
"Anything for a super cute girl," Randy said with a flirtatious hint in his voice. Nora blushed hot pink. Then he glanced at River. "This girl is one cool chick," he said, grinning as Nora, River, and Miles came up out of the waterfall.
"You mean hot," said Miles, but when Nora glanced at him, he said, "Like the fire she can make! Not that I don't think she's hot, no, I don't think that! Sorry, my tongue all wound up today!"
"You think Nor's hot," said Randy.
"How about you, you like Riv?" snapped Miles.
"Boys," said Nora, but her and River were blushing and giggling.
"We'd make a great team," said River, smiling.
"Why don't we become one?" said Randy. "I can imagine it now. Say we all become monster lawyers and get a firm in our name." his eyes lit up and he swung a hand across the sky. "I can imagine our names on it. Mine, Randy Aki. So, Aki, Ruse, Hanataka & Yamamoto, fighting for your rights!"
"None of us wanna be lawyers," said River quietly.
"Why am I last?" hissed Miles.
"That sounds sorta fun," said Nora.
"1), I do, River. 2), Because you're not a hot chick, Miles, and 3) Thank you Nora." said Randy. He looked slightly displeased.
"So, friends?" asked Nora.
"Friends!" said Miles.
Randy smiled. "Sure, I guess."
"Like you have to ask," said River.
Nora grinned widely. "We're a month into school and we're already had our first adventure!"
