Is Oh My God a Bad Word?

When I say "Oh My God" my friends get mad at me and say it's a bad word. They said that God will punish you and it's not respectful to God. I'm not religious or Christian but..is this true?

Its using Gods name in vain.

No saying those words is not cursing, but it is using the LORD's name in vain. Somewhere in the Bible it does talk to us about how we shouldn't use His name in vain.

Saying his name in vain violates the second of the 10 commandments. Imagine if people used your name as a swear word, you wouldn't like it

In the Bible, it says that the disrespect of His holy name is called "blasphemy", and in the old testament, was punishable by death. So using God or Jesus's name as a cuss is indeed bad.

You know im not christian but i belive its rude because your using Gods name in a sentence of distress or something like that I dont reallt know its kind of like saying "God *BLEEP* it" or "Holy *BLEEP*" im sorry my examples had swears in them
