CHAPTER 1 - Where Am I
The sky was very blue. So blue, that it almost looked fake, like those you might see at Disneyland. Tom looked up and wondered. He wondered about lots of things. Tom's older sister, Beth, was busy on her mobile phone messaging her friends. They were at the park today. It was Tom's 8th birthday and their family, including Mom and Dad, were about to have some cake.
"Tom! WATCH OUT!", screamed Beth.
"What?", replied Tom.
At that moment something very strange was happening. Tom's feet were a couple inches above ground. He was starting to float up and was beginning to drift a bit. In an instant it all stopped and Tom had a hard landing back to the ground. Tom was in shock at what happened.
"What on earth just happened?", cried Tom.
"I don't know, but I want to go home now", said Beth.
"MOM! DAD!", yelled Tom. "I just floated in the air!"
"What honey?"
Tom's mom, Sara, was a science teacher. She taught 5th grade. Tom thought she had the best job in the world. Beth was not as impressed and felt it would be cooler if she was a pop star... something she wanted to be one day herself. Their dad, Paul, had a construction business. He worked very hard, but times were tough for them as well. They were actually really struggling, but would never let Tom or Beth know about their problems. They wanted their kids to enjoy childhood, which they knew was a very special time that should be cherished.
