CHAPTER EIGHT
I WAS GOING TO TALK TO MY SO-CALLED PARENTS, the ones who had never told me I had been kidnapped. We left the police station, my mind racing, and piled back in Mr. Beckly's car. Then he drove us to my house after calling Melissa's parents to meet us there.
"I have to know the truth!" I scolded myself as we raced inside my huge mansion. My mother, father and the Graplaces were settled in the living room, eyes fixed on me intently. My mother patted the seat beside her and I sat down, although I shuffled away from her.
"What's up, Vennie?" my mother asked slyly.
I gazed at her. "You kidnapped me," I growled.
"I cannot deny it," she admitted, staring at me. "Yes, I am not your real mom, niether is your dad your real dad. Do you wish to know the full truth of how you came to be with us?"
I nodded, my light green eyes narrowed. "Yes," I breathed.
