Ough I was laughing while writing this haha

Chapter 2
I was now on my way, carrying Mom's famous golden cookie tin, wrapped tightly in a paper bag (for security reasons). But once I rounded the corner of my house, I came face to face with something hideous, something gruesome, something- unknown...
"It's Mister Smiley the snowman!" Introduced Matthew, a wide grin on his face.
"Mister Smiley," I echoed, trying to process the image before me. "Matthew- is that... a zucchini sticking out of his face?"
"Yeah, we couldn't find a carrot for his nose."
"Okay... and I guess those two radishes are his- eyes?"
"Yep!" Matthew replied with prompt enthusiasm. "And how about the broccoli for his hair, huh?"
"It looks like Mister Smiley had an accident with a vegetable stand."
"Well, you know, one thing that Mister Smiley really needs is a hat. We were thinking about using- hey, how about your paper bag there?"
I quickly snatched the bag out of his reach. "No-"
Matthew smiled crookedly. "Why not? He'll look great with a paper bag hat. Come on, Esie. Pleeeaase?" There was a slight pause, and then he continued. "Look, if you give Mister Smiley a hat, we will let you help us with our snow fort."
"Who's 'us'?"
"Joshua and Zoe and me."
I sighed, relenting. "Okay, I guess. Maybe you can use this to cover his- face."
"Great! What do you got in there, anyway?"
The paper bag crackled between my hands as I pulled out...
"The golden cookie tin!" he gasped.
"SHHHH," I strained. "Matthew!"
Matthew resisted. "It's your mom's trademark! The golden cookie tin means you've got your mom's famous chocolate chip cookies!"
"Shhhh!" I reiterated. "I'm on a dangerous mission here. Do you want to get me killed?"
He fell into a pensive mood for a few moments. "...can I have one?"
"Matthew! These are for my grandmother!"
"Yeah, I know, but she won't m-" his sentence was cut short, replaced by a small cry. He flew back, sprawling onto the snow.
