With Everett by my side, I was running the hardest I’ve ever ran, so hard that the chaos going on behind me was non-existent. I was focused on getting as far away as possible.
“WHEN ARE WE GONNA STOP, CASEY?” Everett yelled to me.
“WHEN THERE’S A SAFE PLACE!” I yelled back.
We kept running for what seemed life forever. Then, I stopped. Everett stopped too.
“What’s that? Is it a secret bunker?” I asked.
“I don’t know. Let’s go in it.” Everett said.
The bunker was unrealistically small. There were only 2 beds, crammed next to each other, and there was barely any room to walk around.
“We should move on.” Everett said.
“We can’t, Everett. This is our only option if we don’t want to get infected.” I said.
“Fine, Casey. But I don’t have a good feeling about this.” Everett said.
We were both feeling extremely sleepy, and the sight of beds was attracting us. Everett almost fell asleep when I had to wake him up.
“Everett, you can’t fall asleep. The internet is gonna infect us!” I persuaded.
“Oh, wait a minute! There’s a door! With a lock!” Everett said.
“We can’t go in. The internet is waiting for us.” I fearfully said.
“But what if it has something really important? Like a lightning stick or something?” Everett cried.
“You’re right. We should go in.” I said.
We started to pick the lock. It was a manual lock from 2023, precisely 32 years ago. It took us a few hours to open the lock, since it was very secure.
“I opened it! Let’s go!” Everett yelled.
We opened the door, and instead of the important things, something else was there: A screen running 5G telling us that we had to fight together against the 2 owners of QuantumInternet. To the death.
