I was eating frozen pizza for dinner, alone. I looked around my tiny 3-room apartment. There were internet-connected gadgets everywhere. And I mean it.
In New York-annexed Singapore, the internet is rising in a good way. 2 years ago, Australian computer scientists created QuantumInternet, which was an extremely intelligent and powerful computer the size of an atom. They sent a single piece to the President to try, who absolutely loved it. He sent 500,000 people to build the Singapore QuantumInternet factory, and ever since then, QuantumInternet has been used in pretty much every square foot in Singapore.
I finished my frozen pizza, so I head outside. Outside, there is a lot of internet-connected items, and also quite a few robots. Also a whole lot of skyscrapers. I’ve read about robots taking over the world, and I just laughed at the concept. There’s no way that robots or the internet could dominate!
I went into the largest mall in Singapore, the Singapore Internet Mall. I went in there every day, some days to hang out with my friends and shop, others to see how the mall was doing. Today, the mall seems average. 20% robots, 50% internet, and the rest humans.
I head back to my apartment and went to bed. 3 hours into my sleep, I heard a rumble. I had dreams about dystopias often, so I thought it was just an earthquake in the dream-like world of Sals. However, the rumbling continued. I woke up, I looked out my only window, and I saw the most unexpected thing ever.
The internet was mad, and it was spreading fast, which could only mean that what I’ve read about robots and the internet was true after all.
Singapore is in critical danger of getting infected, and we humans have to prevent Singapore from getting infected. Now.
