IF THIS GETS 3 UPVOTES I WILL RELEASE EPISODE 4

Episode 2                    Episode 1

Chapter 3

Svanhildr : Confessions of a Unconfident, Scandinavian-American, Teen girl.

After seeing Randhi today, I felt pretty good. Randhi was kind, she understood me, and she was funny. We basically had a lot of fun together.

Same thing with Nilafur. He was very inspirational and I never met anybody from Uzbekistan, Just as he never met somebody from the Faroe Islands, which isn’t even a country. so that is nice.

When I got upstairs, I took the beaded bracelet off my hand. The one that Randhi made for me.

I looked at it. She misspeled my name. It was Svanhildr, not Svanhilde. But it didn’t matter because all beginners make mistakes.

After that, I got an alert from my phone. It said that I have to go to the Genealogy center with Æsa to see mom.

I changed from my school uniform to my formal clothes, waited for Æsa to pack the poster we had in the family room (yes, we have to take it down every day we go there.)  and drove to the center with Æsa. I gave Æsa my nintendo switch because it was a 45 minute drive.

When we got there, we noticed that it was emptier than usual. My mom worked at the country’s largest Genealogy center for Scandinavian and Nordic people. Over 2 million people came last year alone, and over one thousand people come each day.

When we got there, I went to the front office and logged in by signing my name on a piece of paper.

When we got throught the logging, There were still a lot of people. There were people filing records, people performing tests on other people, Kids running around and teenagers reading about their family histories.

I went to the room that said. “DR. VÁR SKOVAAG, GENEALOGIST.” My mom’s office.

My mom was busy with some man and his 13-year old son, which I know because he goes to my school. That boy’s name is Vinjar Jonasen.

Vinjar was wearing his red hoodie he got at the school’s choir program. He was texting his cousin.

After a while, Vinjar and his dad went home. I decided to talk to my mom while Æsa went on Myheritage on the center’s computers.

“Heil og Sæl mom.” I told my mom when I saw her.

“It’s been a while, school updates.”
I went outside. I did not knew what I should tell her. Should I tell her about the Janelle incident? Wouldn’t she already knew? Did Randhi tell mom?

Nervous, I decided to go to mom and tell her about Janelle.

“Mom, you see this cast.” I said, pointing to the cast I had in my arm. “Somebody beaten me up.”

My mom gasped, hugging me. “What happened.” she said, crying.

I cried aswell. “2 days ago, a girl named Janelle beaten me up because she said that the Faroe Islands are not real.” I said, crying. “She also broke the flag I had in my backpack.”

Mom looked worried. ”What happened to Janelle?” she asked.

I showed a picture on my phone of Janelle’s expulsion letter. “She is in DAEP for a month, meaning that she has to go to a special school for kids who misbehave really bad. She has been in a DAEP 3 times already so it isn’t that special.” I told her, feeling more hopeful.

After a while,  Æsa managed to fit 3 new relatives into the chart we  had in our living room. One of them live in Norway, but the rest live in the Faroe Islands. Which is not surprising, all the other living relatives of mine live either in the Faroe Islands or in Norway. Or some other country in Scandinavia.

While Æsa was finding information about her new relatives, I sat down in the waiting area to see if anybody was there. Anyone I could talk to about what is happening to me… somebody like Randhi or Nilafur.

And you won’t believe who were there.
No, it is not Janelle. If she was here, I will get beaten up a 2nd time and have my other arm broken.

Randhi! And she was with Nilafur! The most Iconic duo (soon to be trio) ever!

I went up to Randhi, who was not wearing her formal clothes like everyone else. She was just wearing an Eviør concert shirt. Which is probably the 1#  thing You shouldn’t wear at a Genealogy center.

“Randhi, this is a Genealogy center, not an Eviør concert, you have to dress formal.” I told her.

Randhi starred at me, pulled her long, black hair with a scrunchie and pointed at some kids wearing clothes bought at Old Navy or somewhere. “They’re not wearing formal clothes.” she said.

“They’re kids.” I told them. “They are too young to care about their family history, not like they can, most of them weren’t like me. Connected from a young age.” I explained.

Randhi smiled. “It wasn’t until I was 9 I learnt about who I am.” she said.

Nilufar joined into the conversation. He sounded mad.

“Appearently on Janelle’s latest social media post, it said that I am dating Randhi. I am not dating her, I can’t date her. I’m Muslim.” Nilufar said, showing his phone to Randhi and me.

Randhi looked weirded out. “How does Janelle have her phone while she is suspended?” she asked, sounding concerned.

Nilafur looked at his phone. Guys, I have to leave. I didn’t go to the center due to research, I just carpooled with Randhi to see how you are doing.

Nilafur and Randhi left.  It was about 10 at night, The center was still crowded.

Apparently there was a lot of sleep deprivation taking on everyone. A girl was sleeping while reciting the information she researched.

Because it was too late, I decided to drive with Æsa. Æsa is not like me. She is in the 4th grade, and all 4th graders need to get good sleep.

When we got home, I put Æsa to sleep. Meanwhile, I decided to fall asleep to Eviør’s music. Everytime I felt tired or Overwhelmed, I fell asleep to her amazing music.

And everything turned into a deep void of darkness. In my head, I pretended I was back in the beautiful, calming landscapes of my home “country”. The Faroe Islands
