Chapter 3

When the train alerted everyone to its arrival, children surged, from all sides, and bombarded the doors.

Nicolas struggled to remain on his feet while getting pushed around to and fro. He also found it difficult getting rid of the babbling brown-haired boy, whom was tailing him. "Out of the way!" Nicolas boomed, but no one paid mind.

"TRAIN 572 LEAVING IN 10 MINUTES!" He heard the conductor yell out. It seemed as though today was starting off against him, testing him and making sure he was present.

He bolted through the teeming crowd, not looking back to see if his pursuer was still following him, and almost pulled a muscle finally getting to the entrance. He wondered why the conductor would give them such little time to board—but he suddenly felt a shocking pain in his back. It felt like a car had ran into him, but that wouldn't make sense. There weren't any cars in here.

"Ough!" He belted in pain. He heard a little, "Sorry!", from a nervous voice he knew too well already. It was the Abbycat boy, a boy worth all of his resentment right now. "Zac...chary!" Nicolas muffledly spat with his face smushed against the train car window. He started to feel the pressure being added instead of removed, crushing him almost.

The doors finally opened, albeit abruptly. Nicolas fell forward along with other children who stacked on top of each other, from what he could tell by the enormous pressure he now felt. He managed to rip himself from under the others, and, when he did, he took a large inhale.

"...Abbycat..." He exhaled. He had his eyes closed for a long time—mostly because of the sweat that accumulated there and glued them shut—and found it hard to pierce them open.

He heard a grunt, then a heavy few footsteps. "I'll help you up!" He heard Zachary offer. "Absolutely not," Nicolas croaked, sitting up. "No, no, you've done enough. Go take a seat, I'll go take mine!" He picked himself up on his feet now, brushing his knees off.

As he walked away from Zachary and the growing amounts of children pouring in the car, he thought of how difficult this camp is going to be. How will I get proper education with this dumbo on the same field? A voice in his head said.

"This is going to be a long year," he muttered to himself when he sat down in a, yet again, alone and tranquil booth of his own. This time, distractions won't be as likely to happen.

Hopefully.

Nicholas is one grumpy cat, that’s for sure!
by (508k points)
He is, isn't he? x3

He kind of has reasons, though. He's been through a lot, although it may not seem like it to outsiders x]

Makes sense. It’s like me when all the pancakes(or waffles, depends what my parents made) run out and I have to have boring cereal for breakfast…

lol x3

It's like, cereal is great any other time, but not when you have to have it instead of waffles or pancakes x3

Why does he dislike Zachary?
by (508k points)
Nicolas isn't really a... Person who trusts easily. He's very introverted and doesn't like a lot of people x3

This may change in later books :D
