Hey, guys! I’ve been learning Spanish for almost a month now and I thought, to practice, I’d make a post to help you learn some Spanish! So come along with me and let’s speak some Spanish!!
The Basics
Hello = Hola
How are you? = ¿Como estas?
Good = Bien
Bad = Mal
So-so = Así así
Good morning! = ¡Buenas Días!
Good night! = ¡Buenas Noches!
Bye = Adios
Yes = Si
No = No
What = Que
Sorry = Lo siento
Excuse me = Disculpe
Pardon = Pérdon
Spanish = Español
English = ingles
A, Or, Of, The, And, In, Is, My
A and The are different depending on the gender of a noun. In Spanish, basically all nouns are either male or female, and even some words that aren’t nouns.
A (feminine) = Una
A (masculine) = Un
The (feminine) = La
The (masculine) = El
Of = De
In = En
Or = O
And = Y
My = Mi
Is = Es
Eating and Drinking
I eat = Yo como
You eat = Tú comes
He eats = Él come
I drink = Yo bebo
You drink = Tú bebes
He drinks = Él bebe
Water = Agua
Juice = Jugo
Milk = Leche
Coffee = Cafe
Orange = Naranja
Apple = Manzanas
Bread = Pan
Salad = Ensalada
Tomato = Tomate
With = Con (i.e. ensalada con tomate)
Without = Sin (i.e ensalada sin tomate)
Cup = Taza
Describing Family and People
Girl = Niña
Boy = Niño
Man = Hombre
Woman = Mujer
Friend (feminine) = Amiga
Friend (masculine)= Amigo
Referring to multiple friends = Amigos
Best friend = Mejor amigo/amiga
Mom = Madre/mama
Dad = Padre/papa
Sister = Hermana
Brother = Hermano
Aunt = Tía
Uncle = Tío
Grandfather = Abuelo
Grandmother = Abuela
Cousin (boy) = Primo
Cousin (girl) = Prima
Numbers (to 30)
Starting with 1 = Uno
Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez, once, doce, trece, catorce, quince, dieciséis, diecisiete, dieciocho, diecinueve, veinte, veinte y uno, veinte y dos, veinte y tres, vienticuatro, veinticinco, veintiséis, veintisiete, veintiocho, veintinueve, treinta!
Important Notes
To be grammatically correct in Spanish, you must have Un, El, La or Una in front of a noun. So for instance, “Un niño.” “La mujer.” “El papa.” “Una madre.” Even, “El jugo,” “La manzana.”
HOWEVER this doesn’t apply if you’re trying to say something like your mom or my mom.
“Tú mama,” “Mi mama.”
Even your juice, “Tú jugo,” instead of “Tú el jugo-“ (your the juice??)

Most Spanish words are feminine and masculine (specifically nouns). Normally, a word ending with O is masculine, and a word ending in A is feminine. This isn’t always the case though.

In Spanish, adjectives come after nouns! I have not stated any adjectives, so here is a color- “blanca,” which means white. Instead of saying, “Mi blanca leche,” you’d say “Mi leche blanca.” This goes for any noun you are describing.

Eat in English is basically the same thing, except “He eats” ends with an S. I tend to get confused in Spanish because the word changes depending on who your talking about, and they all mean the same thing. Same with drink, or speak. I think all verbs. It’s still basically the same, except remember
He eats = Él come
You eat = Tú comes
I eat = Él como
Try not to mix these up!!

When you need to use proper punctuation, for questions it would be like this - “¿(insert words)?”
And exclaiming is “¡(insert words)!”

If you ever need to say I don’t speak Spanish, say
“Yo no hablo Español”
