I am crying rn

Question

Here is the whole story:

My fam and me moved in with my grandpa in 2020. He is a smoker, so we literally had to redo the whole house, because it was so gross. Anyway, now it's 2024. Well, you prob know that

Anyway, he still smokes in the house, and it drifts into all our rooms. You may know that cigarette smoke causes cancer. He doesn't care the slightest bit about that. He is really stubborn and rude. He also feeds our dogs from the table, no matter how many times my mom says to STOP. My dad and mom and grandpa were all screaming at each other in the kitchen, while we were in the room over trying to focus on something else. Then my dad threatened to move out of the house and find us a new home. I really love my house and I have the best neighbors ever. We have put so much money into this house, I just can't take it. He hasn't talked to us(Us kids I mean) at all since before that happened. I am scared guys. He has never done this. And I don't want cancer. I don't think anybody does. Sry I am spilling my dumb personal life issues on you. Thanks for reading and God bless.

Im so sorry that you are going through this. I'm so sorry your life is not going well. I'm also sorry that he snokes cigaretts. Those cause cancer. But only if you breathe in second hand smoke a lot. I'm so sorry girlie and I hope you know that none of your life problems are dumb and all of kidztalk including me are here for you. I love all of your posts and talk to me whenever you need.

My step dad smokes in the house too :(

Also I think your grandpa should really respect your wishes on smoking my grandma almost died from secondhand smoke and her quality of life was greatly affected and she could barely walk 5 steps without being out of breath.

Hi Nat!

Wow, that's a super sticky situation your family is in. Unfortunately, it's definitely up to the adults on this one.

And by the way, I know how totally gross houses can get when people smoke inside- some of my relatives do this, and their house lowkey disgusts me. At least the smokers I live with only do it outside on the porch. Ever.

And although your grandpa does smoke, don't worry about getting cancer- you won't! I have a long line / family of smokers, and I've been around it my ENTIRE life, and so far, no one has ever gotten cancer, including the smokers! So although second-hand smoke is totally nasty, it shouldn't harm you too bad.

I really hope your family can work this out and come to a compromise!

Aww, Nat I’m so sry. This isn’t right. Ik u love the house, so it’s kinda hard to part with it, but u want to, bc of ur grandpa, but…honestly, u need to move or ur grandpa does. U guys don’t deserve to be living like this. Ok?
