Chapter Five: Finding Light in the Darkness
I took a deep breath. I think I fell asleep shortly after that; then I woke up to see an IV in my arm.
"We're doing your chemotherapy," explained Sarah. "Almost done... There!" She pulled the IV out of my arm, smiled and whispered, "I heard your prayer last night little one," so quietly I couldn't help but grin sweetly.
"Wasn't that my last round?"I murmured, feeling my stomach jump. Was I cured from my cancer? " Is it?" I nagged Sarah until she turned huge brown eyes to me, which were wide with sorrow and remorse.
Suddenly, Sarah's face broke into a grin. "Yes, Memory!" she yelped.
My jaw sagged in disbelief. "Are you kidding me??" I wanted to get up and hug her. Hug her so tightly her eyes would pop out of her head-- so tightly she would have to call the janitor to prize me off her.
"Nope!"
I felt like singing! I quickly emailed Lisa, my parents, and my friend Vanessa*, elated.
The next day the hospital would send me home. I had never been so excited.
