Walking back into that room was awkward. Everybody stared at us until finally, Luka asked, "SO WHO WANTS CHOCOLATE?"
Breaking the awkward silence with more awkwardness. I like it.
Everyone left except for me, Addie, and Moira.
"Soooo?" Addie said.
"What?" I asked.
"Tell me more?! We know you kissed, but tell me more!!!" Moira said.
"Um, I don't know. It was nice, I guess."
"Just nice?"
"Yeah."
"Well, that's disappointing."
Both Addie and I glared at Moira.
"What? You were thinking it, too!"
As she said that, everyone came back in. Peyton and Nathan were in a corner adding more music to the playlist, Luka and Terence were reading something on Luka's phone, laughing occasionally, and Moira and Addie were talking. It was different than most sleepovers I'd been to. It was happy. There was no drama. No girls crowded around a yearbook pointing at boys while I awkwardly made up a fake crush. One that wasn't Sage.
I looked through the rest of Emma's book. "Why do people do these things? If she ever expects us to forgive her. . ."
Sage frowned. "I don't get it. Why can someone who says such homophobic things bounce right back up and now, suddenly, she's a good person? You can forgive, but I'll never forget that."
"Did she say anything else to you when you came out?"
"Just questions. How could I still be gay, are the pronouns right, that sort of stuff. And then she asked whether you were gay, too."
"And she refers to everyone as 'a gay'. 'Those gays'. It's so. . ."
Sage nodded. "Yeah. I know what you mean."
*All right! Sorry it's kind of short! Also, Nobi, I like that idea about asking questions, like the way you had the song one. Is it okay for me to do something like that, or no? And are you fine if I have characters answer questions about the story? They were just really good ideas.*
