It was a school day. That meant seeing Emma again. Funny how our friendship fell down just a few days and we were already part of a new friend group. And we had both had our first kiss. At least, I think. I know I had.
Emma saw us as we walked up to the school. Yes, we were holding hands. Yes, we did kiss before parting our ways (at least trying to part our ways). Yes, we were cheesy.
She walked over. "Give me my book."
"What book?" Sage asked, trying to look innocent. They were trying not to laugh. Both of us could not actually be serious in most serious situations.
"I can't believe you're such a ***. I thought we were friends."
"So did I until I saw what you said about the person I was dating."
"YOU'RE DATING?! SO WHAT, YOU'RE GAY TOO?!"
"I don't actually think I'm gay-" Sage started.
"Don't act surprised, *****."
To be fair, I don't normally say things like that. But somehow Mx. Elliot heard me.
"What did you just say?!"
"I didn't mean it!!! She just-"
"I don't want to hear it."
"Pfft, ****."
Mx. Elliot turned around. "What."
"Sorry, sorry, I didn't mean-"
"Emma, what did you just say?!"
"Can I just talk to her for a second?" Sage asked quietly. "With my girlfriend, please?"
"Yes."
People had pulled phones out. Someone on the school newspaper was writing things down in their notebook. A few of the GSA members were watching, shocked.
"What do you want?" Emma said.
"Don't act confident, we know you're just as scared as we are. You've been horrible to us. We read the book. You can't actually be serious."
Emma smirked. "Nobody will actually know. Come on, they still think I've been with Evan."
Mx. Elliot walked down. "Girls, please come inside with me. We need to talk."
Sage was not ready to come out to anyone else at school, so they just glanced at me with an irritated look.
"Come on. Let's go."
*I've tried to have a schedule, but I think I'll just update when I can. Please give me feedback!
