Helena Zoo, 2003
“And here, we have Atlas, our massive 600 pound silverback gorilla. Try saying that 3 times fast.” The zookeeper said to the visitors.
The visitors took pictures.
Atlas was thinking in his mind.
He wasn’t just a dumb animal.
He was just as smart as any of the humans.
It was night, and he planned his escape.
He carefully crafted a massive makeshift sledgehammer from a boulder and a large tree branch.
The bird enclosure was next to him. It would be easy to tear the fence and break into the kangaroo enclosure, which when he broke that wall, he would be free.
It was 12:00 am.
He charged at the wall, breaking it with his sledgehammer.
He then tore through the fence, and broke into the kangaroo enclosure.
One kangaroo stood in his way and tried to block him, but Atlas hit the kangaroo so hard with his fist it sent him flying.
He caught the attention of one zookeeper who was asleep, and the zookeeper rushed to get help.
Atlas smashed away at the wall, and broke it down. He climbed through, escaping to freedom.
He went into the nearby mountains.
It was different from his home habitat in Africa, but he loved it.
He eventually found a river.
He had no food, so he decided to hunt for fish.
He crafted a makeshift spear, and went back to the river.
It took him a while to master the spear, aka 30 minutes, but he speared a fish!
He ate it happily, and was ready to start his new life in wild Montana.
Hope you enjoyed the first episode!
