Alph ran to the nearest glowing mushroom sprout and smacked it, causing it to burst from the ground, emitting a soft blue light. The miniature Phosbats behind him hissed in pain, blinded by the light, only for more of them to come from behind and begin chewing at the luminous fungi, which flickered and went dark. Not wanting to become bug food, he kept running, dodging another newly-spawned Phosbat. The mother's rumbling call could be heard in the distance.

"We leave Charlie unattended for 3 days, and he turns into a giant death moth!" Brittany grumbled. She tossed one of the Rocks at the nearest enemy, whistled it back before it got eaten, and turned to him. "We clearly shouldn't have come here!"

"Okay, first of all, he probably just got swallowed by it, or something. And if that's the case, we can't just leave him there!" She looked away.

Suddenly he crashed into hard stone. Alph looked up, dismayed. The Phosbat youth's growls grew louder as the horde surrounded the Koppaites and their Pikmin companions. One of the Yellows squeaked in fear as a pair of jaws snapped shut right next to them.

They were surrounded.

"What do we do now?" he hissed, terrified. Brittany looked around silently. Suddenly, her eyes lit up.

"Stay here, and DON'T MOVE," she snapped, before gathering a group of Yellow Pikmin and rushing straight towards the Phosbats.

He watched with wide eyes as she punched one of them right on the nose and shoved her way through, the Pikmin rushing through the open path. A large group began to run after her; some stayed behind, circling the rest of the group.

"What are you waiting for!? Do something!" she shouted, still running.

Alph started. *Oh. Right!* Grabbing one of his Rock Pikmin, he threw it at one of the drooling beasts. It screamed and fell, while its companions charged forward, and a Pikmin-Phosbat war ensued. Charging a few at a nearby trio, he paused to watch Brittany, who was throwing her Yellows at some sort of contraption. And then...

Light flooded the cavern. The Phosbat offspring suddenly stopped attacking and began to run around frantically, before exploding in a burst of ashy gray powder. The many egg sacs shut down and deflated, and the mother emerged, enraged and desperate. However, its camouflage had gone, and its huge form was rather obvious in the bright light.

"How'd you know that would work?" he asked breathlessly, rushing over to Brittany.

She shrugged. "I figured that they don't leave their cave much and might not be used to that. Wasn't expecting disintegration, but this is probably better. Now, let's take down the big guy, too."

"Right!" They charged at the moth beast, which gracelessly flapped around, confused by the light. Alph began tossing Red Pikmin, who latched on and beat its sides with their stalks. The titanic Phosbat shook them off, only to be met by a barrage of Yellows.

At last, it began to fly away, but was confused and rammed its head into the huge lightbulb at the center of the cave. Its pained screech faded as it fell to the ground with an intense THUMP. It coughed up a large red-and-yellow fruit and lay still.

They slowly approached the dead body. Brittany kicked its wing. "Yep. It's gone."

As of on cue, its head began to move.

Alph and Brittany stepped back as the creature's head thrashed violently, and its jaws parted to reveal Captain Charlie, coated in slime, but healthy-looking nonetheless. He hopped out and turned to stare at the fallen creature. Then he looked back at them.

And that was the last thing Alph remembered, before his vision went fuzzy and everything faded to black.
