When should I come out to my homophobic parents?

I feel like I should come out, as its been a year since I first announced that I was lesbian. Only my three close friends know and I am frightened to tell my parents. My father is a big time Christian and is super homophobic. He used to go to church (he doesn't right now because he spends all his time on his kids), he recites the Lords Prayer every night, and he has complete faith in God and all of that. My mother is much less homophobic but she can be very judgey at times. Just to be clear, I am not hating on Christians here I am just looking from advice from my fellow LGBTQ+ members.

Also, I'm fairly young. I am under 16 though I've known for a long time that I was lesbian. What should I do? Please help!

I see this and it was annoying that when I came out as pan and non-binary my mother basically told me I was confused and that I needed help and some thearpy if I really thought that way. So you most def should be have cautions and be ready dont just say it. Say it. And mean it. Be proud of who you are.

Thank you so much! Yes, my friend has a similar problem. She came out and her parents got pretty mad and grounded her for "joking around about serious things", though she was completely serious. I am definitely not coming out to my mum and dad for at least 2-3 years. Also, I am very sorry your mother said those things to you. Have a nice day!

i think you should say something like "so i have something to tel you", and then just calmly tell them. good luck!!!!
