It was late afternoon when Shikamaru got back from training, he met back with Nobi by the fountain outside. Nobi still had his shuriken in her hand when he casually walked up, “how was training?” Nobi asked him. He shrugged, “pretty boring.” He always seemed to have a frown on his face. That led Nobi to thinking about how he smiled when he was with her. Shikamaru tapped his foot against the ground. Nobi had always liked Shikamaru, even though he was a bit dull, he seemed like a completely different person when he was with her. Nobi finally glanced at him, he had something shiny in his hand, Nobi looked at the thing, then to him. He opened his palm; he had two coins. He nodded to the fountain, “you wanna make a wish, Nobi-San?” Nobi smiled and took one of the coins. She watched Shikamaru clutch him tightly, closing his eyes and whispering. He then looked at it and threw it into the water. Nobi took a deep breath and wished on hers, ‘please let me get better at training’ she looked at the coin and tossed it in. there was silence, then Nobi finally said, “so Shikamaru-Kun, what did you wish for?” his mouth stayed in a straight line, “it was something.” They sat in silence, “It might be better if I show you, Nobi-San.” Nobi looked to him clueless. He took her hand gently and led her beneath a tree, he cupped her face in his hands and gave her a quick kiss. Then pulling away, flushing deep red. “if you don’t understand what I wished for it was—” Nobi interrupted him by giving him a hug like she did earlier. He smiled. and he would only smile for her. And they stood there in that embrace for a long time.
