Alex said “Steve, I don’t feel too good.” and started to cough loudly.
Steve said “Alex, don’t worry, I’ve got you. I’ll help you to bed”
“Thanks Steve”
Steve said “ How bad are you feeling?”
“You know how you feel after eating rotten flesh while you have the wither status effect?”
“Yeah.”
“Well twice that bad.”
The engineer came up and said “Steve, may I have a word with you in private?”
Steve nodded and left with the engineer.
The engineer said “Steve, Alex has what we call redstone fever. You have to stay as far away from her as possible at all times. You may contract it again. While she was inside you… she… touched one of the disease cells and now she has it. You should be glad she survived being touched by one of them. Usually people at the size she was at are instantly killed.”
“Oh my gosh! Will she ever recover?”
“Her future is looking pretty bleak.”
“So… She won’t recover?” said Steve disappointedly
“I never said THAT. But, yes, she’ll most likely never recover. If by some miracle she does recover, she’ll never be the same again.”
Steve nodded and said “Okay, can I really get it again?”
“No. BUT, stay away anyway!”
“Please let me come near her!”
“Fine you can. BUT, do NOT be calling anyone for help if you get the second time version of it!”
“Deal.”
Alex then yelled “Steve! Can I go downstairs? I need to watch TV!”
“Sure Alex!”
Steve then led Alex downstairs and turned on the TV and turned to the show they usually watch at that time.
After the show, Steve began to make dinner even though it was Alex’s night. When he was done making dinner, he called for Alex.
Alex slowly came walking to the table and said “Steve, I BEG of you! Let us adopt a kid! It’ll make my life so much better!”
Steve said “No! I still remember watching all those villager kids when I was around 35!”
“Please?”
“Nope!”
“I’ll be the predominant caretaker, you just have to keep a steady job.”
“You think I can still do that?! I can barely lift my sword now! You think I can still win BATTLES?!”
“No. I’m sorry, I just didn’t know. You could always work at the supplies store.”
Steve said “Yeah. I guess I could. Who will teach them how to PvP? I’m too old and you’re too sick!”
“Oliver could. He was a legend for a brief period of time.”
“Fine, if it’ll make you happy.” and sighed.
The next day, Steve and Alex went to the adoption agency.
The people there said “Steve, Alex, we’re sorry, we simply can't give you a kid.”
Alex got all red and yelled “Why the heck not?!”
Steve said “Easy there! We’re probably too old.”
The people there said “Yes, that’s one of the reasons. BUT, another is because of the incident with the skeleton and the villager.”
Steve said “I knew one day that would come back and bite me in the bottom!”
Alex said “I know what happened and it was an accident!”
Steve said “Yeah!”
The people there said “Fine” sarcastically “We’ll look at your house tomorrow. You both just need to fill out some forms first.” and handed over some forms.
Steve said “Umm any pens and hard surfaces?”
The person led them to a room with a desk and pens. And Steve and Alex filled out the forms.
When Steve was done, Alex said “So you excited?”
Steve said “Alex! I have never had anyone that isn’t a friend go traipsing around my house with me!”
Steve and Alex handed over the forms.
The person looked through them and said “All your forms seem to be in order except for one thing Steve, you forgot to put your parents’ names.”
Steve said “Here’s the thing. They were taken away by creepers when I was two. So, I don’t remember their names.”
The people said “Steve, you used to be here. Do you remember?”
Alex said “You used to LIVE here?!”
“Apparently” said Steve confused
The people said “Your parents are Lizzy and Doug.”
Steve filled that out and said “There! Now come to my house.”
The person said “Okay, I did say tomorrow. But, whatever!”
Steve then went to his house with the person.
The person looked all around and said “Steve, Alex, your house seems to be in order. Now we just need to watch you guys for a week.”
Alex said “Steve? Are you okay with that?”
“I guess if it’s required”
A week later, the person said “Yes. You do get one. BUT, now you have to pick one out frome our options.”
Steve said “Alex, you want a boy right?”
“Yup”
Alex then picked out seven babies: Noor, Sunny, Ari, Zuri,Makena, Kai and Efe.
Steve said “Woah there! One okay. But SEVEN?! Never gonna happen missy.”
“Please?”
The person said “Guys they’re all siblings. If you adopt one you have to adopt all of them.”
Steve sighed and said “Fine. How much do we owe your wonderful agency?”
“You?! You owe us 50,000 diamonds and 25,000 emeralds from when you were a child PLUS 50,000,000 diamonds and 25,000,000 emeralds.”
Alex said “Why so much?”
“Well you’re adopting SEVEN kids.”
Alex said “No, no, no. I get that part but why does he owe extra.”
“Oh. I never thought I’d have to tell anyone this. But, here it goes, Steve broke so many things, drew on the walls AND hurt so many other kids when he was staying here when he was a kid, HE IS FINALLY PAYING THE PRICE!”
Alex said “How long did he do this for?”
“From when he got here when he was three to when he was five.”
Alex said “All that in two YEARS?! Steve! yo u should be ashamed of yourself!”
The person said “Actually Steve, 500,000 diam0nds and 250,000 emeralds.”
Alex said “Steve! If I wasn’t so old I would so be breaking up with you right now!”
The person said “Just kidding Steve! You know that. Right?”
Steve said “Yeah” and chuckled nervously.
“Steve was always the kid who made farting noises behind the adults during story time and he was always the one who did the best impressions of all the adults. In fact every week, he had a little show where he did impressions of all the adults. And on chinese food night he used to stick the chopsticks under his top lip and pretend to be a walrus. And sometimes he would even randomly sing the most annoying song ever to be devised ‘go in the tub”
Steve said “Yeah. I was a very funny kid. I was so funny to cope with my depression of my parents being taken away. If I remember correctly I used to wear creeper costumes every so often and hide in the toybox and jump out. I pretty much made everyone here hate me by doing that. But, I know you adults found it funny.”
“Yeah!”
Steve said “I’ll pay you tomorrow.”
The person that worked at the adoption place said “We’re sorry. We can’t give them to you yet”
Alex said “Steve.” scoldingly.
Steve said “Fine.” and handed over the payment.
Then they got the kids.
